february movie round up

One of my 2025 resolutions is to watch more movies! See what happened in January here!

I restarted my Mubi membership this month, so had access to some great films, including many more shorts than I’d watched in previous months….

Below is my February letterboxd diary round up – as you can see I had a few duds this time, including the terrible 2010s Ridley Scott Alien prequels (a bad gamble after watching and enjoying Predators last month) and two short Westerns by acclaimed directors (Lynch and Almodóvar) – but I also saw some excellent, serious, films, and a few really cracking documentaries (Dahomey, on restitution, Rewind and Play, on many things, Grand Theft Hamlet, on arts in the pandemic (though that one did pull its punches/lost objectivity by the end).

Highlights were La Chimera, Luca Guadagnino’s odd first film The Protagonists, Cher’s multi-Oscar winning Moonstruck, and I ended the month on a real high with the brilliant Medusa Deluxe. Look it up and enjoy!

March will be more Mubi, though will probably try and find a baby friendly screening of Mickey 17 and/or the new Soderbergh lol aha innit.
