TEN WORDS OR FEWER INTERVIEW: Matt Nagin, author of The Book of Outcasts

Matt Nagin answers some questions in ten words or fewer

Matt Nagin, author of The Book of Outcasts, has been invited to take part in TriumphOfTheNow.com‘s “Ten Words or Fewer” interview format!

Read on below!

Q: What is the title of your book?
A: The Book of Outcasts

Q: Why did you choose this title?
A: Trial and error. Title seemed best fit for material.

Q: What’s the book about?
A: A collection of fourteen stories about outcasts.

Q: Why did you write this book?
A: I always related to outsiders. Find this pov interesting.

Q: Why do you write, generally?
A: I’m compelled; energy in system, electricity, has to get out.

Q: Where/how do you write?
A: Varies. Mostly at home. In home office.

Q: What/who do you read?
A: Read wide-range of material. Enjoy humorous fiction, satire, sci-fi, dystopia.

Q: Why do you read?
A: Mostly for pleasure. Can learn from other writers too.

Q: Where/when you do read?
A: Whenever I have free time. And can focus.

Q: Why might someone with oppositional politics/values enjoy your book? If
they wouldn’t, do you regret that?
A: My book has satirical elements but is not overtly political.

Q: Describe the ideal reader of your book.
A: A misfit intellectual with a sense of humor.

Q: How do you relax?
A: I use a sauna blanket. Or take walks.

Q: Are we alone in the universe?
A: No. Aliens are reading this now and improving my punctuation.

Q: Do you listen to music?
A: Doesn’t everyone?

Q: What differentiates us from the animals?
A: Self-awareness. Spirituality. And toilet paper.

Q: Do you have a mantra? If willing, please share.
A: No. But I talk to myself.

Q: What is your preferred breakfast – something you could have every day?
A: I like organic oatmeal and a banana. Yeehaw!

Q: What’s the highest altitude you’ve been to on land? (i.e. not in a plane)
A: Probably the top of a very steep ski slope in The Swiss Alps.

Q: What’s the largest animal you’ve seen running free?
A: A Grizzly Bear. Party time!

Q: Which film/movie[s] from the past five years do you think will be future classics?
A: Don’t Look Up

Q: Do you have any pets? Why/why not?
A: No. I travel often so pets would be a hassle.

Q: Would you like to suggest a new question for future interviewees?
A: What do you hope people will say about you when you die?
