Feyisayo Anjorin joins us for this week’s interview! He’s the author of the Hypocrite series of books: One Week In The Life of A Hypocrite, Another Week In The Life of A Hypocrite and Love Lessons From The Life of A Hypocrite.

Q: What is the title of your most recent book?
A: Love Lessons From The Life of A Hypocrite.
Q: Why did you choose this title?
A: It sums up the overall idea of the story.
Q: What’s the book about?
A: Two weary lovers giving relationship advice from personal experience.
Q: Why did you write this book?
A: I started a story and I wanted to finish it.
Q: And why now?
A: Readers of the first two books got curious, I got curious too.
Q: Describe the ideal reader of your book.
A: Someone with outlandish ideas of what love is.
Q: What are your politics/values?
A: Simply let your yes be yes and your no be no.
Q: Why might someone with oppositional politics/values enjoy your book? If they wouldn’t, do you regret that?
A: The way the couple responded to fire with fire.

Q: Why do you write, generally?
A: I’d rather die than not write.
Q: Where/how do you write?
A: On laptops or with a pen and paper, I just do it.
Q: As a writer, what’s the biggest challenge you face?
A: Starting a project, once it starts it keeps going.
Q: Are you working on any new projects?
A: I’m always working on new projects.
Q: What/who you do read?
A: Chinua Achebe, T C Boyle, John Grisham, Alice Munro.
Q: Why do you read?
A: Think of it as a kind of refueling.
Q: Where/when you do read?
A: Anywhere there’s something to read, I’m reading it.
Q: Do you listen to music?
A: Music, I listen to music and I make music.
Q: What differentiates us from the animals?
A: We have a kind of intelligence and God-like abilities that animals lack.
Q: Do you have a mantra? If willing, please share.
A: Mantra? We’re taking nothing out of this world.

Q: What is your preferred breakfast – something you could have every day?
A: Bananas, almond seeds, walnuts
Q: What’s the highest altitude you’ve been to on land? (i.e. not in a plane)
A: I’m surrounded by hills, I’ve been on Idanre Hills, that’s about 3000 feet above sea level.
Q: Have you ever written any songs? If yes, describe your sound.
A: I’ve written many songs, I would say Soul/Afrobeat/RnB/Reggae is my sound.
