My 2024 Resolution? Revolution!

chasing enough optimism to change the things i can surely change

I mean I don’t mean that title literally as I’m too shy/sad at this point to be involved in any kind of revolutionary struggle, but on a personal level (as well as maybe a political one tbh tho I don’t think anyone is doing anything widespread to facilitate it) that’s largely what’s needed.

My 2023 wasn’t great (though I could easily pretend it was, which isn’t something I’m interested in doing), so great change is needed and (I hope!) great change will come.

My resolution?

Revolutionary personal change!

Shock! Awe!

Unrecognisable potential futures that haven’t yet been dreamed of!

Trying in constructive ways!

Working hard in a meaningful manner!

Change! Development! Growth! Life!

Life, life, life, life!

Something very different, please! Responses to personal knowledge that build upon epiphanies rather than deny they ever happened!

Less denial, more awareness. Less politeness, more directness. Less hating life but changing nothing, more changing everything and anything that should be and can be changed.

A different year. A better year.

A year that doesn’t feel like just one more 12 month period lived through on the dull wait for death.

Is it possible?

I don’t know. But I’m not saying it isn’t, so I suppose that’s a victory of sorts???

I’m not dead yet, and not planning to be dead for a while yet.

I aim to:

  • Submit more poems for publication;
  • Study more efficiently;
  • Perform live again and, ideally, regularly;
  • Remain unmedicated, as those catharses from books, films and music are the best moments of all (so get medicated again if I’m more content and need it less? Hmmm, this one is muddled…);
  • Be, like, a more authentic version of self.

That’s enough to be getting on with.

Best of luck to everyone else who needs something different to that which they have!

Anyone kind-hearted who is content, best of luck to you, too!

To everyone and anyone cruel, callous, selfish or any other even slightly negative adjective, I hope nothing goes well for you until April at the earliest! Let the rest of us have a smile for once!!!

Here’s my 2023 Christmas video again, for those of you who missed it before (many decorations are still up, so it’s acceptable to watch now imo).

I think this can also be enjoyed as a silent movie, but many people have also praised the song. Up to you!

Here’s a 4 second video of the time I met a monkey last year. I recommend watching with the sound on!
