Filmed at the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic in Toronto’s historic Paradise Theatre on Bloor St W, the poet, essayist, blogger and mentally ill person scott manley hadley reads through selections of their published oeuvre.

This episode features a full reading (with some discretion-based censorship) of MY FATHER, FROM A DISTANCE, a 2019 text published by the now-shuttered SELCOUTH STATION PRESS.

This prose chapbook explores disease, class, grief, displacement, loneliness and a lack of finding a sense of self. It was mostly written in 2014 as part of a life writing workshop led by Blake Morrison, with additional material added and tweaks made in 2016 and then again in 2019. It’s pretty sad, tbh…
